Mister Dark

Derek is from a family of monster hunters who carry a mystical taint, the darkness, that they harness to help them fight evil. This taint comes from a pact made by one of Derek’s ancestors with a being of great power known as The Whispering One. It has helped many generations of Darks destroy evil creatures, but they know that this is part of some greater (and almost certainly evil) scheme. For every evil Derek vanquishes he knows he is bringing some dreadful machination closer to fruition. Although Derek is not the most sociable individual, he works with other heroes because they remind him of his humanity.
