Ethan is the hand-picked protege of Omega Man, a powerful but somewhat reclusive hero in Empire City.

Ethan always admired superheroes but even with his telepathic and telekinetic abilities never really thought of becoming one. One night when Ethan was walking home from volunteering at a homeless shelter he was attacked by mysterious figures. Ethan was overwhelmed but Omega Man appeared at a crucial moment and rescued him. Omega Man offered to make Ethan his protege on one condition: Ethan must never try to find out why he was chosen.
