Kevin was affected by a seemingly random planar convergence. He was stuck out of phase, existing in several elemental realms at once. Kevin was restored to normal reality by a team of superheroes who helped him learn to control the planar energies that now flowed through his body. Kevin keeps his superhero identity a secret because he got great advice from the adult heroes who saved him. They encouraged him to try to lead a normal life as long as he could before fully stepping into a superhero role. Those experiences would help him stay in touch with the normal people he is now charged with protecting.
