Divine Beings and Gods

In the vast depths of The Ether the devine beings and gods of Telandor have made their home. Each deity has its own domain within the ether, an area where their influence is strongest. They have limited abilities to intervene on the planet, and do so mostly through omens and visions, lending their power to those that worship them. They can manifest as avatars and do so on occasion, but their own conflicts are mostly dealt with in their home plane.  

The Primordial

The primordial gods are the most ancient of the gods, and are said to have given birth to the rest of the pantheon. Legends say they were once mortals during the Dawnage, who ascended through their acts during times of great conflict and strife.  

Aratheer, The Honored One

The God of Courage, Brotherhood and Protection and Loyalty.
Divine Domains: Light, Order, Protection, War
Sign: Tapping ones arm to ones chest two times in quick succession.
Symbol: A light blue shield crested by a dawning golden sun.

Aratheer is the embodiment of honor. He is said to be thoughtful but quick to anger, and represents the protection of the weak. He is not a deity of justice, instead exemplifying the idea of standing up for your own justice and your own beliefs. He is the deity of the sun and order, fighting for ones beliefs and being loyal to ones vows. He is said to manifest in the form of a stocky middle-aged man in shining golden armor, wielding a mighty hammer that emits radiating golden light, with his symbolic shield strapped to his back.

 

Ireya, The Heart of the Wild

The goddess of wilderness, growth, nature and life. The embodiment of Autumn and passionate emotion
Divine Domains:Nature, Tempest, Life
Sign: Touching ones forehead followed by touching the ground with both hands.
Symbol: A lush green tree guarded by two brown wolves

Ireya is the divine being of nature. She represents the ever changing cycles of life and the chaos of the wilderness. She is the embodiment of passion and emotion, life, death and animals. She is an expression of freedom and growth, of the harvest and the rains as well as the pureness of untainted land. She is said to manifest as a beautiful woman wearing a gown made of leaves, wielding a staff of living wood topped by an amber stone.

 

Zorl, The Eternal Spirit

The Deity of knowledge and the arcane, magic and sight.
Divine Domains: Arcana, Knowledge, Ambition
Sign: Cupping both eyes the palms of the hand, arms crossed.
Symbol: A large brown tome inlaid with a purple eye.

Zorl is the deity of knowledge and understanding, the patron of study and research in the pursuit of new awareness. Zorl represents the unknown, but also the path to understanding it. He is depicted as an androgynous and hooded figure, carrying a large tome and wearing a dark robe inlaid with geometrical patterns and stars.

 

Deities

These are the gods most commonly worshiped across the world, though many more exist they are much more localized and dependent on culture. Worth noting is that these are the gods worshiped by humans, most other major races have their own gods or pantheons.

 

Eorlis, The Cosmic Balance

The Goddess of balance and truth, of law and trade. The cosmic constant of cause and effect.
Divine Domains: City, Ambition, Order
Sign: Tracing the inside of the forearm, often on the completion of a barter or trade.
Symbol: A balanced scale with a white feather on one side and a brown pouch on the other.

Eorlis is the goddess of balance in all things. She represents the consequences of actions and reactions. She is the patron of merchants and lawmakers, and exemplifies careful deduction and assessment. It is said that she never wears the same persona when she manifests, as she likes to gauge the true nature of people and finds it easier to do so when they are unbeknownst to her identity. It is also said that she sometimes manifests as a white swan, to watch over trade arrangements and deals and make sure they are justly arranged.

 

Yuvaris, The Wanderer

The god of adventure and the journey, of experiencing new things and always being on the move.
Divine Domains: Ambition, Life, Nature, Trickery
Sign: A salute and a wink
Symbol: A stick with a small pouch tied to its end.

Yuvaris, according to many, is the soul of adventure. He is always on the move, always looking for the next experience and never backs down from a journey. He represents the path, and not the destination, and is the patron of those who wish for safe passage or are exploring new places. It is said that Yuvaris always watches those who are on the move, sometimes appearing to them under the guise of a ragged drifter. Yuvaris is kindhearted but light spirited, and is known for sometimes playing tricks on benevolent bystanders.

 

Alakhir, The Grave Warden

The warden of the dead, protector of lost souls and the soul of decay.
Divine Domains: Death, Grave, Nature
Sign:Touching ones ears, ones eyes and ones mouth on after the other with both hands.
Symbol: A shovel protruding from a mound of soil, with a raven sitting on its hilt.

As all things live through the soul of Ireya, So must all things die. Death is the domain of Alakhir, the warden of the grave. He watches over souls as they pass from the mortal realms into the ether, making sure they go where they belong and don't return to where they do not. He is the sevant of Ireya, doing her bidding to make sure the natural cycle progresses. He rarely manifests, but when he does it is always as a stocky and lumbering humanoid with pouches tied around his waist, wearing a cowl and wielding his trusty shovel.

 

Oarahktis, The mountains thunder

The bellow of the sea, and the rumbling of the mountain. Oarahktis is all, the spirit of the great monuments of nature.
Divine Domains: Tempest, Strength, Nature, War
Sign: A deep breath in with closed eyes, and a deep breath out.
Symbol: A large mountain

Oarahktis is the soul of the forces of nature. He is the storm, the Ocean and the Mountains, but not of the living. When he sleeps, his breath is the wind, and his snores the rumbling of great mountains. It is said that he is quick to anger, and causes great natural events when he does so. Things like earthquakes and snowstorms are his temperament. He almost never manifests to mortals, as he is mostly sleeping, but many giants have spoken about meeting him. He is the patron of temperament, of strong emotion and outbursts of violence, while at the same time representing the stillness before the storm, and the quietness of a remote mountain pass.

 

Ilithena, The Forgemaster

The soul of tinkering and creation, craftsmanship and engineering
Divine Domains: Forge, City, Zeal
Sign: Rapping ones knuckles to the side of ones head, often after having a burst of inspiration
Symbol: A white hot anvil, surrounded by the flames of creativity.

Ilithena is the patron of craftsmen and tinkerers, of those to wish to understand the physical and build great things. She represents invention and structure, innovation and creativity. She exemplifies stubbornness in pursuit of ones goal, and never giving up just because the way there is filled with torn out hairs and hardship. She manifests as a stocky smith, wearing spectacles and carrying large scrolls full of scribbled notes. Though it is not common for her to visit the mortal realms as a full manifestation, it is said that when individuals are in the midst of creativity, her glimmering eyes and spectacles sometimes appear on the faces of those working, quietly appreciating the flow of creativity present.

 

Idris, The Divine Strategist

The goddess of planning and preparation, of well devised strategies of war and conquest.
Divine Domains:War, Ambition, Knowledge, Zeal
Sign: Putting ones palm to ones face, and bending forward in thought.
Symbol: A compass on a map.

Idris is the divine strategist, patron to generals and city planners alike. She represents carefully devising a plan of action, wether that be in war or construction. Spending many hours in thought and doing research in order to fully understand is the virtue of Idris, who is said to have been one of the greatest generals to ever walk Telandor. She is known to sometimes nudge her worshipers in the right direction, perhaps by having a mug of ale spill across a battle map, shining light on previously missed strategic opportunity. She manifests as a well built field general, modestly dressed and always carrying her trusty maps and short sword.

 

Tattiw, The Blushing Dancer

The god of courtship and dancing, the pursuit of love and the joy of life.
Divine Domains:City, Ambition, Life, Trickery
Sign: Picking an imaginary flower, smelling it and tossing it over the shoulder.
Symbol: A whirlwind of roses

Tattiw is the god of courtship and the pursuit of love, of the joy of arts and dancing and the soul of festivities. He represents summer and lightheartedness, but also slyness and trickery. He is said to be a fickle god, never answering questions in a direct manner and fond of riddles and games. He is the patron of politicians and nobles as well as lovers and artists. It is said that wherever there is dancing and festivities, Tattiw always appears, but he never reveals his true self, instead preferring to mingle in obscurity, only hinting at his true identity.

 

Tithis, The Hearthmother

The Matron of the Hearth, of home, community and cooking.
Divine Domains:Solidarity, Protection, Strength, Life
Sign: Brushing ones apron and bowing with hand to brow.
Symbol: A kettle on top of a fire

Tithis is the spirit of home and community, of family and care. She represents the warmth of a fire on a cold winters night, and telling stories to cheer up the young. She is perhaps the most revered of the deities, as she is worshiped most anywhere there is a home. She represents caring for the sick and the young, cooking and weathering the tempest of nature. She is said to manifest as a old and stocky woman, with a large smile and many wise words, always wielding her beloved cooking ladle.

 

Sharath, The One Eyed Raven

The mystical spirit of the night, of the unknown and of the stars
Divine Domains:Life, Death, Knowledge, Nature
Sign: Tracing an infinity sign in the air.
Symbol: A one eyed raven

Sharath is the deity of mysticism and the unknown. It watches in the night, curiously pondering the makings of the cosmos. It is said the one eyed raven knows all things, but sees importance in things others do not understand. The one eyed raven watches over the other gods, keeping them in check with its watchful eye. It is the patron of sages and mystics, of dreams and things not understood. Sharath is said to embody all ravens, and rarely manifests in answer to prayers. When it does, it is always in the form of a raven.
