Goblin

"Laftka rose up slowly, his face half covered from the mud he had landed in. The orc slaver laughed cruelly as he struck the goblin again. Laftka rose up quicker this time, hatred and defiance burning in his eyes. The orc went to strike him again but the gob saw it coming this time, he dodged the blow deftly and drew the orc's own dagger. The small goblin climbed his back before the orc could react and it was over before he even had a chance. The orc gurgled out a curse as the blood began to pour from his slit throat.   It was time. Time for an end to their long enslavement. His people would be free, and he would lead them to that freedom."   Perpetually enslaved or oppressed since the beginning of time, goblins are rarely acknowledged as anything but evil, and stupid little creatures. The reality, however, is much more complex. Goblins, in fact, are actually extremely intelligent, possessing a raw cunning that can be deadly when tempered. Sadly, this is a potential that has rarely been tapped. It is said that the dragons valued them as scribes during the Age of Myth, and there is evidence to suggest they valued them.   Since the fall of the dragon's however, Goblinkind has gone from one brutal conquerer to the next, perpetually enslaved by the forces of evil deities or monsters.   Sometimes, however, an individual Goblin is born with a level of intelligence even greater than others of their kind. These 'savants' almost always become leaders of their tribe and are a force to be reckoned with. One such Goblin Savant was called Gurn, and he was a plague on the old kingdom of Corbey for many years. He was renowned far and wide as one of the most brilliant strategists of Goblinkind and perhaps one of the greatest strategists of all kind. Despite his expertise, however, he was killed by an elite strike team in Nox's Army of Night, which included Vestrus, Iscaria, and the Dark Elf priestess (Need to ask Logan what her name was)
