Tortle

Tortles a race of Beastfolk that have the appearance of upright, bipedal turtles. They originated in the marshlands of the Cradle, but have since migrated to the other regions of Kropall and Idraz. 

Basic Information

Anatomy

Tortles appear as upright, bipedal humanoid creatures, but share many similarities with their distant turtle ancestors. They have elongated necks, turtle like heads, and sharp claws on the ends of their fingers and toes. They posses leathery, lizard-like skin, and their torso is covered in an armored turtle-like shell, into which they can retract their limbs for added protection. As adults, Tortles can be 5-6 feet tall, and weigh and average of 450 lbs., with their shells accounting for approximately 1/3rd of their weight. 

Growth Rate & Stages

Tortles are hatched from shells, and spend their first few years crawling on the ground like their turtle ancestors. They reach maturity at about age 15, and live an average lifespan of about 70 years, though some individuals have been known to live for much longer.
