The densely populated cities of the known world can be dark, dangerous places where bloodthirsty rogues prowl the night, and power-mad crime lords prey on the innocent. If not for the moral strength, training, and courage of the watchmen, these sinister adversaries would quickly overrun the streets. The watchman is a member of the city Watch, sworn protector of the people who fights the wicked criminals of the city on their own turf.

Many watchmen come from the same city streets that they now patrol. These watchmen bring a certain “street-credibility” with them on their quest to eliminate the dark influences they somehow avoided as children. Most watchmen train with the local police force or military, though retired watchmen may pass on their techniques to a few worthy students. Even fewer are the watchmen who train themselves while patrolling cities and towns in a never-ending, self-inflicted mission to rid the darkness of all things malevolent.
