Sealgair Glainne
The Sea of Glass is a very special place. A nearly sterile environment, it would seem, what with the oppressively hot days and often chilling nights. But there is life out in the deeps of the glass...so far out that no land can be seen. Only the stars, the mirror of the glass reflecting their light back unto the heavens, and the subtle scraping of your Ràcan as its skates cut ultra-fine lines into the glass surface of the Sea of Glass can be sensed. That far out, flying things even are rare, unless they are very high up as they pass over the glass.
And yet life persists. There are Glissen Ants building complex burrows in the soil all the way under the thick glass of the Sea, for example. Whirling eddies of air give away the location of revelling air elementals, for another. And, just like anywhere else, predators roam the Sea of Glass. They set up their dens in advantageous positions, safe places where they can defend their young and themselves. They make travel along the Sea even more dangerous, having to worry about attack as well as the environment. Safe routes would be mapped out and travelled, until the crafty creatures found the new paths and began preying anew. Likewise, travel near to the edge of the glass could be more hazardous than elsewhere, simply due to the proximity of likely dens. The odd rock pile and pockmark in the glass provides cover for them as well, but upon a time travel near to the edge was dangerous.
It was during this time that individuals began to make names for themselves by slaying these creatures, thus making the glass safer for everyone. They were chock full of bravado, piss, and veinegar, and would head out into the desert or onto the glass in search of the latest man-killing monster. Some of them would even take it upon themselves to patrol specified trade routes for danger. A simple bounty method was adopted for remuneration of services, and soon these wild folk had become folk heroes to the youth of Taisha. Cruising aroung the Sea of Glass in their modified Ràcans, these gruff and rough folks like to play at least as hard as the work.
The Sealgair invented a new type of spirit they called Dharak back in the deeps of time. Back when they were necessary. The predatory animals of the deseert's edge eventually realized the price was not worth the meal, and moved elsewhere or else died out entirely. Still, the Sealgair persisted stubbornly, if only culturally, and over the centuries they have come to mostly run Dharak distilleries and bars throughout Taisha and Pax. Their headscarves and veils can be imposing, though the veils were only supposed to be raised when a Tchamut was about to enter potentially mortal combat. Still, the clothing is spacious and cool, and has a mystique and gravitas to it that have only been heightened by popular fiction and local lore. Everywhere in Taisha seems to have a local story about some heroic stunt performed by a bad-ass, audacious Sealgair.
