The Triumph at Oaken Gorge
In the dead of the night, Oaken Grove and the
Nûkichû crept slowly along the bottom of Callum Gorge, stealth paramount to the success of this whole endeavor. The orc raiders were Wolf Clan, of course, but the carnage had been absolute. Yet another small village of happy elves, razed to the ground. Smoking piles of ash would be all that was left. These yrcch, these orcs, burnt indiscriminately.
Oaken had people out preventing the spread of the fire.
But, in the meantime, the atrocities could not go unanswered, and as much as the killing sickened him, oaken knew it was necessary. The Wolf Clan would ride right in and take whatever they wanted if they did not respect the Elves' boundaries, and Oaken and his small band of wood elves were there to make them respect the elves, period. They began to climb up the cliff face, slowly...oh, so slowly and carefully, they climbed, making no more noise than a fox pattering by in the night...
The orc raiders, marching back from their victory en masse and singing victory songs, were entirely unprepared and caught totally flat footed. Trapped between three distinct lines of fire, the ranks of orcs melted away. Despite being outnumbered nearly three to one, the elves slew every last Wolf raider, that night. It took the enclave six years to recover and resume its terrible raiding practices, but to this day they avoid the elves, unless they can find one alone, or perhaps in a small group.Summary
Oaken Grove acheived a great victory over the raiding orcs of the Wolf Clan, setting up a tenuous, but lasting, detant.
