Flasavious Ashenfeld III

The head of the Ashenfeld Canton. A rigid man who believes in military dominance beyond all else, though he does have a soft side. He sees himself as the great protector described in undermountain lore, despite the fact that he fits very few of the prophecies. To this end, he has aligned himself with the Belvalli and actually repelled an attack from 4 of the other families attempting to invade the Belvalli. This is the only prophecy that truly fits, but even it is a bit of a stretch.
While the military is not actively fighting they are contracted by several civil groups to help with manual labor around the canton. This policy has actually developed incredibly good will with the citizens of the canton, and keeps the soldiers in fighting shape. However, it does result in less cohesion than most other professional militaries as they spend much less of their time actively training. Most soldiers share in the servant-protector complex that Flasavious exhibits, and the canton's military has been described as an "army of heroes", both as a compliment and as a criticism.
