Session 17 Report, Return to Trollskull

General Summary

August 6, 2022  
  • The party returned to the manor gathered their items and worked through distributing items to the person it would most be most beneficial to.
  • As the day wore on, several folks came to the taproom from the neighborhood including a chemist, Bhaltair and Ryce, Nancy’s now husband
  • Through conversation and a bit of charming from Tahira, it was discovered that Ryce was doing some work for the Cassalanters and Tiffany informed him to stay away from them… that they were bad news.
  • Asking 3 questions one last time, Tahira rolled on the benefits and detriments table and she became enraged and her characters flaw became so strong that she started to charge out the door to go after the Cassalanters
  • Lyssandra quickly formed her python and grabbed Tahiras ankle, Tiffany stepped in front of the door.
  • Rolling well on a con check, Tahira was able to come to her senses and head back to the table.
  • On Tahira’s 3rd day of attunement to the stone, the detriment was no short or long rests for the party so an extra day took place before heading out to Xanathar’s Lair.
  • Tahira finished her 3 day attunement to the stone of golorr and has now passed it on to Lyssandra
  • The party then headed to the North ward, to find a high end blacksmith shop run by a dwarf named Darby
  • While Darby was kept busy by Lyssandra and Ag, asking questions about getting Anvil’s hammer silvered, Tiffany crept around the counter while invisible and under the pass without a trace spell
  • He quickly picked the locks of three small chests under the back counter and found, adamantine, gold and green jade.
  • Unfortunately an alarm was set off and Lyssandra and Ag had to quickly leave and run away with Darby giving chase
  • Anvil casted web right outside the door, which slowed Darby
  • Tiffany eventually slipped past Darby and all headed back to the manor
  • City Guard were summoned by Darby and a conversation insured
  • Upon returning the the manor, Lyssandra asked the stone for the 3 keys to the cache of dragons… one of them being an instrument
  • Finally remembering, that Pennie had bagpipes, when asked to borrow them and showing the party how they work, it was discovered that the bagpipes are magical and that they open doors.
  • Lyssandra ran upstairs, tested the bagpipes that opened all the doors in a 30 foot diameter
  • A nightfall the party headed to Castle Ward and the secret entrance to Xanathar’s Lair… using the amulet to unlock the “sewer entrance” they made their way down
  • Mirt had told Pennie days earlier that Xanathar would be gone but didn’t know for how long
  • After discovering a large room and Anvil finding a secret doorway they made their way into a hall that contained petrified stone statues
  • Both Lyssandra and Tiffany saw their “fathers”; for Lyssandra who was raised by Arubyn and Tiffany’s father, Tiffany
  • Eventually the party met, Flutterfoot, a clown/jester deep gnome who gave them a riddle, which Ag quickly answered
  • Flooterfoot showed them around, talked about the lair and then the party decided to knock on the door where Thorvin Twinbeard has his shop
  • After some discussion, Anvil dispatched the albino gazer that was used to spy on Thorvin
  • More discussion was had about how to coerce Nar’l into revealing where the smokepowder was located and how to go about blowing up/bringing down the lair.
  • Lyssandra, with a high perception check, first noticed that feeling of being watched… at which point she let the party know and they all ran back the way they came, toward the entrance
  • That was the end of the session.
