Alventide (El-Vin-Tide)

Alventide Base Map Image
World map of Alventide.

Alventide is the fourth planet from the Skyfire and the only astronomical object known to have life. 27.9% of Alventide's surface is land consisting of continents and islands. The remaining 72.1% is covered with water. Only the far northern regions of Alventide are covered in ice and considered to be polar regions. Alventide's outer layer is divided into several rigid land plates that migrate across the surface over many millions of years. Current research indicates that this is how mountains are born.   More sunlight is received by tropical regions than polar regions and is redistributed by wind blowing across the five seas and two oceans. Gases found on Alventide also appear to play an important role in the lands ability to maintain predictable temperatures. A region's climate appear to depend on how high or low land is to the five seas and two oceans. Severe weather, such as tropical cyclones, thunderstorms, and heatwaves, occur in most areas and greatly impacts life.   Alventide's pulling force interacts with other objects in space, especially the Skyorb, which is Alventide's only permanent Skyorb. Alventide orbits around the Skyfire in about 687 days. Alventide's axis of rotation is tilted by 5 degrees, producing minimal seasons changes. The pulling force between Alventide and the Skyorb could be responsible for all large waters to swell, as if an elemental has been summoned. Alventide is believed to be the densest planet in the planetarium cyclone, although further research is required.

According to current research, it is the combination of Alventide's distance from the Skyfire, physical properties, and geological history that have allowed life to evolve and thrive.    In the most comprehensive study of its kind, the Historic Biodiversity on Alventide study indicates long periods of expansion, occasionally punctuated by mass extinctions.    This study also asserts that more than 99% of all species that ever lived on Alventide are extinct.    A total of 5.3 billion dwarves, elves, halflings, humans and gnomes live on Alventide and depend on its biosphere and natural resources for their survival.    Dwarves, elves, halflings, humans and gnomes increasingly impact Alventide's natural processes and cycles, as well as, other life.
