General Summary
August 2, 8318. The party is approached in neverwinter by Gundren Rockseeker and commissioned to transport a cart full of supplies to Phandalin
August 3, 8318. The party departs, travels for a day, and makes camp.
August 4, 8318. The party continues on their journey, and encounters evidence of a kidnapping, and the slain horses of Gundren and his partner, Sildar Hallwinter. While investigating they are ambushed by a quintet of goblins. After dispatching three of them (two by windowless defenestration) they convince the fourth to lead them to Cragmaw Hideout, a cave they took their prisoners to. They fight and negotiate their way through until they meet the goblin Yeemik, who wishes for their assistance to stage a coup against the bugbear leader Klarg. Yeemik offers to spare the life of Sildar in return. They defeat Klarg and escort an exhausted Sildar out of the cavern, and camp just outside, trusting Yeemik's promise that they will not be attacked in the night.
August 5, 8318. The party, a well rested and mostly restored Sildar in tow, follow Yeemik's directions to Cragmaw Castle, Where Gundren had been taken. The main gathering point of the Cragmaw clan. The party entered the Castle through a hole in a crumbling side wall and through a combination of stealth and violence, made their way to the banquet hall, where they ran headfirst into the Hobgoblin Generals, collectively playing poker. The party convinced the goblins that there was more to life then serving, and the Hobgoblins that their mercenary skills would be better suited to more capitalistic endeavors. The party and their Hobgoblin backup brought the full force of their power to cut down King Groll. Dr. Cottonwood picked up the mace Groll was using and discovered it was infact a holy artifact of her god. the Heartsmith's Hammer. The party bid farewell to their newly made goblinoid allies and after a night's rest, returned to the Cart along Triboar Trail, and continued along their route. Along the way they heard a small dog who seemed to be stuck in a pool of ichor some way off the path. Thanks to some quick thinking the heroes were able to extract the dog, whose legs had turned incorporeal and undead looking, but was otherwise healthy. They named him Mallow, and learned that while he couldn't walk, he had gained the ability to teleport. Upon reaching Phandalin they dropped off their supplies, finishing their quest, and took rest in the local inn. Bree, as is her custom, started a fistfight with a local, and Acquired a strange rock for her troubles.
August 6, 8318, The party awakens and heads to the town's Miner's exchange at Bree's request, where she identifies the rock as a Mote of Elemental Earth, a tiny bit of the elemental plane of earth manifested. They head to the blacksmith's and speak to the couple, Falmore and Rhomdaov Fangcrusher. Bree hands in her axe to be sharpened, and Farah her shortsword. They were told it'd be a day to sharpen, and paid for the work up front. As they left they were accosted by a number of Redbrand Ruffians. Even without their weapons they were able to knock two of them out, and scare off the other two. They dragged the two ruffians to the jail cells in the cellar of the Townmaster's hall, and after calling out Townmaster Harbin for ignoring his job and allowing the Redbrands run of the town, spent some time interrogating one of them. After some threats with a grapefruit spoon, the youngster revealed a number of secrets about the Redbrands and their hideout, and was, through the charity of Dr. Cottonwood, shipped back to his parents in Waterdeep.Rewards Granted
