Hellsing Organization in Teneberilla | World Anvil

Hellsing

The Hellsing Organization was created over 200 years ago, and their main goal is to protect the world from the things that go bump in the night and to rehabilitate those things. They are technically a branch of the M-16 who specialize in horrors. Their charges is to make sure the people of the United Kingdom (and Ireland) never have to deal with with the horrors from beyond the veil, and they are very good at it. Other governments have commissioned them to help, and more then once the Hellsing organization has left England to help stop world-ending threats without approval from the British government.

Structure

The group is organized like a military, with the following ranks.
COMMANDER: There is only one commander. They must always be a Hellsing family member unless there are none to replace them.
VICE COMMANDER: A largely ceremonial role, the Vice Commander is essentially the Vice President to the Commander. They have a lot of power, but their main power is that if the Commander dies, they will take their place. While a Vice Commander doesn't need to be appointed, and there's no rule saying that it has to be a Hellsing, it almost always is.
OVERSEER: These people help guide those beneath them towards their various duties.
COORDINATOR: Someone who has enough skill in the management of monsters to help direct other people in handling them. They are the "bosses" on any mission.
AGENT: Actual operatives who usually carry out the dirty work. Spying, data collection, management and even assassination are all up to these individuals. They tend to have a military background.
INTERN: A fresh agent - what other people might call a newbie or a Green Horn. Until they complete their first major mission, they are considered this status.

Public Agenda

To protect Britain from the monsters of the world.

Assets

The Hellsing Organization has about 200 years of occult knowledge and experience handling the supernatural. They're very good at what they do. In addition to the fortune of the Hellsing family - which is considerable due to the "acquired assets" of those they've killed - the organization also has a direct link to the Crown and its resources.

History

Once upon a time, Hellsing was a family name. In the 1800s the family, all on their own, set out to hunt vampires, and did a damn good job at it. This was how things went for three generations of Hellsings, until their activities garnered the attention of the British government. Impressed by their skill, they gave the Hellsing family connections to the government to keep Britain free of monsters. Once they accomplished that, they spread out around the world, to keep the monsters from coming their in the first place. This was how the organization operated until the end of the Great War. By this point, the Hellsing family was only the leader of what was a very large organization of monster hunters from throughout the United Kingdom. The British government realized that trying to kill the monsters was going to send them into hiding and make it harder to kill them, and also that they should be making an effort to "rehabilitate" the monsters. The mandate thus became to only hunt the monsters that actively cause trouble. This caused a bit of a division in the organization but that was sorted out by the 1950s. These days the Hellsing organization is still run by the family, and their primary goal is acting as a sort of police force, mostly in Britain but throughout the world when need be.
