It is some four centuries after most of the world was wracked by a series of intense conflicts stemming from the long standing discord and eventual separation of the High Elven race. The culmination of the conflicts, known now as the Night War, was a history defining moment in itself, and the effect it had on almost every aspect of the world can still be felt. Although it took generations, civilization managed to endure and once again things approached a level of relative normalcy, without a greater threat to unite against, the cultures of the world, once again, turned their blades on themselves. Petty squabbles for land and power erupt constantly and kingdoms rise and fall, all the while beings beyond comprehension, older than memory gaze, uncaring, at the mortal plane, deciding when to act.
