The Aethereal Plane

The graveyard of the gods and the people who were not good enough nor evil enough to reach an afterlife. The shattered remanents of the long-dead gods lie in this realm in endless torment, agony, and hunger. A large amount of these god shards are entirely harmful to visitors and residents alike. A single shard is capable of swallowing and consuming a person's soul, be it living or dead. It is also speculated that a goddess who was unnamed eons ago lies here awaiting a chance to regain her true name.
This realm is also the area from which all arcane magic is conjured, as well as from an individual's own Aether. Studies have shown that conjuring spells cause the expenditure of a shattered remanent of a god's soul, channeling one's own Aether, a possibility of mental instability, and a possible hunger for more magical potency.
