Chapter 1
- Saint Joan had been living on DeuSolis for 18 years.
- The Living Saint had been fighting the forces of darkness on her own, struggling, lonely, and hard at work to do God’s will.
- At a time of great need, Joan was alone and facing a pack of Werewolves.
- Joan was getting overrun and retreated to a nearby cottage that she came upon by the grace of God.
- The cottage belonged to a man named Cyrus.
- In seclusion he lived, never having let anyone see his face out of fear that he would be hated for being tainted.
- Cyrus always donned armor on his body but never around his heart.
- He came to Joan’s aid when he heard the commotion outside.
- Cyrus was a mountain of a man, due to his unnatural bloodline.
- Joan was weary from fighting this fight and from fighting alone for such a time.
- Cyrus saw something in her and it inspired him to join her. Cyrus always kept his door open to those in need, no matter who they are.
- "I have no right to judge another, as long as you don't mean others harm. You may have a safe place to rest and I will protect you."
Chapter 2.
- Joan and Cyrus were venturing back to the Church on rumors of a large-scale attack on her homeland.
- They arrived in time to assist the struggling knights to push back the Vampires.
- An ambitious Noble Vampire had recruited Elder Vampires to attack the heart of the Church with promises to allow them to rise to nobility if they are successful.
- Many lives were lost and it was widely agreed upon that if it had not been for God sending them the Living Saint and Cyrus, the battle would have been lost.
- Joan’s great strength and Cyrus' defensive ability allowed the Knights of God to push the Vampires out.
- It was Joan who slayed the Noble Vampire in a one on one fight atop the blazing church.
- The city, though mostly on fire, was still salvageable.
- Repairs were the easiest part of the fix, the lives lost were numerous and the people's spirits low.
- Then Joan stood among the people and delivered a speech acting as the mouth of God, that rallied to people to continue on.
- There were other dark forces lurking about that day, preying upon the weakened resolve of the people.
- If Joan had not been delivered there, the town would have been lost, even if the battle was won, to depravity and madness.
- The early signs of the darkness tainting the souls of some were shown.
- Joan went to them and spoke with them for as long as it took to ease their minds and souls, along with giving every last coin she had been blessed with and hunted everyday to make sure the people did not go hungry.
- The Knights of God were, of course, grateful but still skeptical of Joan in her long term motives.
- She had developed a reputation by then, and the opinion about her was very divided.
- Her acts of selflessness and valor quelled any doubts they had.
- After peace had been restored to Domus'Stella the three Knights, Syr Jeniveve, Syr Galival, and Syr Adamis joined Joan, believing her presence and mission to be Godsent.
- They swore allegiance to Joan and all she stood for, calling themselves from then on, The Silvered Three.
Chapter 3.
- The last Knight to join Joan's company was Azazel, a man who at first was not the most friendly towards Joan.
- Azazel happened to be traveling to the same place as her to cleanse it of a Daemonic possession infestation.
- The people of the town had been slowly drained of morality and the place had descended into chaos.
- Joan stayed his hand for his methods of putting the town to the torch.
- "These people are beyond saving, once they fall to the great adversary's influence they cannot be brought back. Only the flame can save their souls. Now out of the way, false savior" he said as he pushed Joan aside with torch in hand to set it to a house he had locked the infected within.
- Joan proclaimed, "NO! There is a way, there has to be! You must let me try! In the name of God and all that is good, please stay your hand."
- Azazel shouted back in righteous fury, "You dare invoke Her name to me?! You have no right! I know God's will and I shall see it done!" and again moved to pass her.
- Cyrus, the stalwart defender that he is, stood between them not speaking a word to Joan, but Joan knew that Azazel’s heart was in a righteous place and knew her intention to be pure.
- "It's alright, I can handle myself. Azazel, if you believe you are in the right then I challenge you to a duel of faith. If I win, you must stay your hand and allow me to try to save these people. If you win, you may have my life and declare me the false savior to all." She offered and he accepted.
- The battle between Joan and Azazel was unlike any that the Silvered Three or Cyrus had seen before; they admit that in that moment they could not have defeated Azazel themselves.
- Azazel with strength, agility and technique behind his blade, Joan was nearly defeated.
- Even with her God given strength, Azael would be one of her strongest foes.
- It is thanks to her endurance that she persevered.
- Azael may have been mighty but the brightest flame burns the fastest.
- After Joan shone victorious, Azael yields and allows her to try what she wills without interference.
- That day he witnessed the first Exorcism.
- In its glory, he wept.
- He would later learn this technique and adopt it into himself.
- It is said that the Flames of Azael, should the soul be of God and righteous, they would not burn you and purify the body.
