Culture and cultural heritage
Being surrounded by enemies, Bartura developed a strong warrior tradition early in its history. Because of this, the Barturi are renowned for producing some of Teneterra's finest warriors. The heavy infantry in particular are commonly used in the Satri army, but they also field competent horsemen and skilled archers.
Average technological level
Along with the rest of the world, the Baturi use iron as the primary metal of their civilization. In fact, it was the Barturi who were among the first major kingdom to equip their armies with weapons and armor forged exclusively from iron. Chariots dominated the battlefield in centuries past, but the Barturi ditched them in favor of cavalry.
Common Dress code
Outside the battlefield, men wear calf-length robes with belts decorated with the distinctive chains venerated in Barturi culture. When preparing for battle, they wear a shorter tunic that ends just above the knees underneath any armor the warrior can afford to protect themselves with.
Women wear robes the same length as the men, but with longer sleeves. Noblewomen decorate themselves with plenty of jewelry, some wearing metallic in imitation of the men.
Common Customs, traditions and rituals
Following a tradition also practiced during the time of their fallen empire, the Barturi decorate their clothing with chains of metallic rings. An iron ring signifies killing ten common soldiers, a silver ring stands for killing a nobleman, while one crafted from gold is awarded for killing a king. Kills are counted by presenting the sword hands of each man slain to one of the quartermasters accompanying the army on campaign. He produces a small form for the soldiers, who then redeem these at one of numerous smiths who typically set up temporary forges in a Barturi military camp. These craftsmen create new chains or add links to existing ones. Possessing a longer chain is a testament to a man's skill in battle.
