Phantom

Signifance

Within the hacking community there are a number of highly sought after titles, which confer a certain amount of prestige and bragging rights upon the bearer. They revolve around doing the almost impossible and there are only a few who have ever earned the right to use them. One such tiltle is that of Phantom, which signifies a master at the art of infiltration without leaving a trace that they were ever there.

Gaining it

There is a list, known to those in the know, which comprises what are considered to be the top forty hardest runs in the galaxy. The list changes with the times as improvements in technology are made, and has been in circulation for the last few hundred years. To gain the tiltle of Phantom, one must complete these runs, providing proof, within the span of one Earth standard year. A feat which has only been accomplished by eight people in the 92 years since the challenge started.

Origins

Back in the 21st century there was a hacker who, untill this day, reamins completely anonymous. Their "call sign" such as it was, was simply a string of digits and symbols. They became the talk of the community, and eventually everyone just came to call them the phantom. Several of the best and brightest of the community burned themselves trying to dig up info on this mysterious phantom, but their identity remained a mystery.

Wisp

Echo's friend, Wisp, is the only current holder of this title. Several of her runs are still talked about, and many have tried to replicate some of her results, with varying degrees of success. Only Echo and three of their old crew members are aware of the Phantom's identity as wisp. During the challenge she managed to get a compromising picture, of the then head of her university, to appear on the bilboard on the side of The kessel Building.
