Solar Eclipse
It's good to see the festival still going on, though it was a lot less rowdy in my day, and didn't take three days to clean up after
History
Once every 236 days, the planet Rin 2 passes between Rin station and Rin, the star of the Rin System. This passing causes a total eclipse of the sun, as the station lines up behind it's moon and the two planets. The original workers of the station used this event as celebratory event to relieve the grind of working the water station. Since most of the workers surrendered to Ambrose Shadowhammer when he arrived, the tradition survived his take over. The workers continued to have their celebration and eventually, after more and more of Ambrose's people began to adopt it, he decided to make it an official holiday.Execution
The day of the eclipse is classed as an official holiday station wide. Only those in critical roles are required to work, though anyone who wishes to ignore the holiday and work anyway is welcome to do so. People gather in the main section of the station to watch the eclipse through the large dome which covers it. The eclipse itself only takes several minutes to occur, however the festivities go on all day. Since the population of the station is too large to accommodate everyone in the main section, Many of the larger rooms which have viewing ports facing the sun at this time will also be given over to people to watch the event. This results in mini, and not so mini, parties occurring all over the station. Music, food & drink, and cultural displays are the focus of the holiday. In the main section a sound stage is set up in the centre which plays host to bands, musicians, actors and other cultural forms of entertainment. Some of the larger viewing rooms will also have forms of entertainment set up. It has become a bit of a tradition for the smaller gatherings to revolve around a "bring your own dish" sort of vibe, where festival goers will bring dishes and drinks from their home planets to share with the other party goers.

Seems like a nice tradition for people stuck on a station. 'This results in mini, and not so mini' love that sentence :p
