Hekuba

Hekuba was a generally peaceful cyclops who lived in New Veluca during its earliest years.

Hekuba was said to be the singular sister of many brothers, and also the de facto leader of her small family clan. She was reportedly especially talented in the realm of animal husbandry, having discovered an infallible technique for the pacification and taming of wild animals. She was also a persistent weaver, though she was not believed to have been any good at it.

Hekuba died peacefully of old age in New Veluca in the first centuries of the Emerging. Her enormous cairn stood for millennia before slowly eroding into the soil, and its exact location has been lost to time.

Her offspring and kin were too constrained within a growing city which was both too large and too small. Families of cyclopses still live in the more sparsely inhabited New Velucan countryside.
