Divine Anchor
“Few hear its whispers. Fewer even still understand them. To some, they are the voices of the divine, bringing inner peace. To others, they are a maddening cacophony.”
The Divine Anchor was a massive relic created by the Kastir cult as one of the final Approaches, fueled by the magical power of the trapped Ancient Battam within. It is known as the Linked Approach because it linked Teralt’s gods to a massive object filled with pieces of their divinity. It allowed the gods to manifest on the mortal plane for extended periods of time. Prior to the construction of the Anchor, a god could only manifest on the physical plane for a short period of time– typically minutes– based on their strength. This effort exhausted them and they needed to regain their strength before they could attempt it again.
Gods, however, cannot take their true form within Teralt through the Linked Approach and instead must adopt a weaker self in order to appear. The only example of a god’s true form existing within Teralt is the Godhand, and even this incredibly powerful and dangerous relic is only a fraction of a god.
Just before Castor’s first sealing, Nol infiltrated the Children of Castor’s inner circle disguised as a human named Kirgo Dell. She used this identity to disrupt various experiments within the Approaches and leave a trap within the Divine Anchor. Due to the Great Rebirth, Nol was released. She soon made her way to the Anchor, activating the spell she’d hidden within it and destroying it, thereby restricting the gods’ access to Teralt once more.
The Anchor is described as a massive jagged piece of star-speckled stone. In places and times where its true name has been forgotten, the Anchor is also described as a god’s finger due to its appearance and impervious nature. It is known by the alternative name of “The Whispering Pillar” because many claim to hear the voices of the gods whispering to them from within.
