Teralt, being the primary world in which all of my novels take place, is the focus of my development. Given that I aim to develop it, and I'm going for that sweet 40/40 prompts completed, it seems a natural conclusion to allow the two to combine.
Theme Preparation: Power
Within Teralt, there are various powerful organizations. From the secretive New Children of Castor and their shadowed actions— influencing the world, remaining unseen— to the vengeful Unmakers and their quest to destroy all gods, there are and have been many groups who wield incredible power, in one way or another.
Each of the leaders of these factions is powerful in their own right, but many of the truly powerful threat actors are those that perform their activities from their padded thrones. Of course, the most powerful of these regional leaders, Mordred, whose magical abilities are said to put the fear of Man into the Divines, pursues his own machinations, obliterating armies with little effort, but for some reason, rarely leaves his tower— instead sending out his minions to do his bidding— though no one can claim to know why.
Theme Preparation: Frontier
Teralt has many small city-states and a few larger kingdoms, so most territories are surrounded by walls. The mortal races inhabiting Teralt are plagued by attacks by the Ancients, and so they construct strong barricades to protect them. Those living on the edges of territories of kingdoms are also at risk of being caught up in mortal wars.
Theme Preparation: Relics
Oh, there are so many relics scattered about Teralt. From the Arch of the Son to the Godhand, relics litter the history of the world. One of the most notable relics, with a bloody history, is the Scepter of Power. Known for the incredible power it gifts its wielder, the Scepter of Power has passed between the hands of dictators and conquerors.
But not all relics are unique. Like the Tek staves and Tek rafts, some magical creations are mass-produced, lost, and rediscovered or improved.
