The Bleeding Sons

The Bleeding Sons are a cultist group dedicated to the Blood Moon event. They practice rituals written in the Book of the Crimson Shadow / Book of the Bleeding Night. The Bleeding Sons are the creators of Moonbeasts. The creation of Moonbeasts involves a living human and an animal's guts. The human is fed the guts, uncooked, and is then chained down into a ritual circle. During a Blood Moon, the cursed human transforms into a Moonbeast, taking a form that reflects the source of the guts they were fed. Crescentfangs are canines. Bloodhunters are batlike beings. Moonbeasts inherently crave human flesh, but most resist killing their loved ones, and instead consume others. They typically don't care about the lives of those they aren't close to, but if they are starving, they will even eat their loved ones. Salviron is the earliest recorded Moonbeast, surviving Korangar's slaughter only because the night passed to day and he couldn't escape to conceal the truth (a Moonbeast instinct). Korangar spared him after realizing the beasts were cursed humans, saying, "A man can easily become a monster. This, I know. But a monster, with great effort, might still regain his humanity. This, I hope." When Gavin arrives on Teralt, the Bleeding Sons have become a large group. But after the attack that leads to Gavin’s discovery of magic, a series of events occurs which leads to the almost complete destruction of the Sons, reflecting the Prophecy of Mordred.
