The Myth of the Cosmic Dance
The inhabitants of Teralt, particularly those from the ancient city-state of Kysharin, hold a cosmological myth that speaks of the origin and meaning of the universe. This story, known as the "Myth of the Cosmic Dance," is often depicted in the elaborate murals and frescoes found in the ruins of Kysharin.
According to the myth, before the creation of Teralt and the universe, there was only the eternal dance of two cosmic entities - the Spirit of Light, Ailuros, and the Spirit of Darkness, Moros. They danced in the vast emptiness, their motions representing harmony and balance in the cosmos.
One day, during their endless dance, Ailuros and Moros clashed. From this collision, sparks of cosmic energy burst forth, creating stars, planets, and all other celestial bodies. The most significant of these sparks fell into the heart of the darkness and, over eons, cooled and took shape to form Teralt.
The myth further narrates that every living creature, every mountain, river, and grain of sand on Teralt, carries within it a spark of this initial cosmic energy - the essence of Ailuros and Moros' dance. This is the life force that animates the world and its inhabitants, a reflection of the grand cosmic dance.
The ancients believed that all events, including conflicts, peace, creation, and destruction, are all a part of this Cosmic Dance. Life and death, joy and sorrow, growth and decay, are merely steps in this great dance. Even the great Andromeda and the Traveling Parent are perceived as dancers on this cosmic stage.
This myth offers a comforting belief that even in the face of chaos or adversity, it is just another movement in the grand dance of the universe. Even in the darkness, there is a purpose, a step in the dance, a note in the cosmic melody. This belief fosters resilience among the inhabitants of Teralt, as they navigate their lives in a world filled with challenges, mystery, and wonder.
What a lovely myth! I like how the dance gives birth to everything.
I'm glad you enjoyed it! It was either this or a tribute to Wheel of Time and there would be a Worldweave of sorts.
