Neely’s Rant
And then, possibly for the first time in forever, I said what was really on my mind- what my people NEEDED to hear. Just like that, I snapped. “We pride ourselves in being better than humans; being less corrupt, more accepting, more peaceful. But, do we realize how hypocritical that makes us? We give Man a load of crap for their racism and narcissistic nature, when the very act of thinking that way is altogether the same. And honestly, what is up with the way we treat faeries?
And then there’s the fact we were NEVER much better than them to begin with, if we are better at all! We charge into battle all too willingly, we have a a system unfair and unjust in places just as they do- we just hide it better. Who are we , claiming that we’re sort of utopia? We are not! UTOPIAS AREN'T REAL!
Jux, maybe the real reason we say the horrible things we say about other people is because we’re too high and mighty- No, We are too scared- to say them about ourselves!”
All was silent in the cave when the last words exited my mouth. The air hung dense and hot, like a suffocating, toxic fog. But, my mother said- possibly for the first time ever- “She’s right.” And so the cave filled with the sound of 6 thousand, 400, and 24 clapping hands.
And I still thought of myself as a monster, but not as much, for the others of my kind had finally realized they were monsters far worse than me.
And I was satisfied.
