The Barrier
After the first war between humans and Ouyanla (at the colonization of the island by the pre -Vikings), Eldalwe feared for the safety of the Niadla. She created a magical barrier between Alterelith and the Southern forest. Niadla could exit at will, but only humans that were pure of heart could pass through. Unworthy humans see nothing but a sweeping plain, experience a stabbing headache, and get wracked by cold sweats and spasms if they try to cross the barrier. The barrier extends from the western shore of Cursed Lake in a bubble around Najwist Eldiz. Notable crossers: Aspen, Apple, and Olive Tree; Ophelia Riverstone.
Purpose / Function
To keep the Niadla safe from violence and strife at the hands of Humanity.
Alterations
It remains unchanged since its installation 2 thousand years ago.
Architecture
It is a translucent barrier that extends several hundred feet into the air, only visible to Ouyanla. It is comprised of Faerie Silk, a magical fabric that is nearly unbreakable, being spun from magic, light, and Eldalwe's hair.
