Taking Back Gotwiel
8th of Asmodeus 457 BI
After a swift victory defending the grand hall we take some time to celebrate in song to give the troops relief from the torments before we march to take back more of the city. We will start with the smithy. Exiting the grand halls we are met very quickly with resistance, three demons four cultists, and a large chained winged man. The battle starts off with a bang as we all charge in ready to shed blood for Gotwiel but are met with a huge blast of screaming red spirits that emanate from the large winged man who draws a huge fiery greatsword and uses it to cleave the head off of one of our troops slicing straight through him into Varn nearly mortally wounding him. Another burst of screaming red spirits from the winged man shatters the air knocking down almost everyone and tears at their souls. After the second huge burst of energy, the chained angel spreads his wings and flies away retreating in fear for his life.
In Defence Gotwiel
7th of Asmodeus 457 BI
Starting where we left our adventures in the grand halls we meet them entering combat. The Fiends are trying to take back the halls. Demons spiders and zombies flood the main entrance luckily we set up defenses before any arrived. One of the imps appeared behind So’Togu taking advantage of his concentration on inspiring his comrades and stabbed him in the back, but that did not stop him from inspiring the troop. So’Umbra rushed to his side and impaled the imp on his rapier. Theoi bravely in the front lines cut down their leader, as they were no match for him and his godly powers. The rest of the creatures were felled swiftly after. This was the first of many battles.
The Gand Halls of Gotwiel
6th of Asmodeus 457 BI
Waking up from a short rest in the small encampment in the cities undergrounds we are well prepared for what dangers lie ahead. Climbing the stairs from the tunnels up to the street we are immediately greeted by the aura of death, the scent of ashes, and a group of cultists. With a glorious battle anthem and a slice from head to toe almost splitting a cultist in half Theoi and the group enter an epic battle. The two cultists behind the recently departed fall to the ground in slumber thanks to So’Togu. With a demonstration of strength, Theoi defeats one of the remaining cultists with a furious punch to the jaw. The rest of the foes were no match for the powerful group the last of which explodes into a void of death. After which we notice a worthy companion that had to join our side in the fight, a small kobold warlock named Varn.
Opening a door down the hall we enter into a grand hall of heroes with statues of knights of Ivandra and the Suntales Twins of Pelor and a statue of Captain Ritik. The grand hall contains two fiery imps who proved to be competent enemies, nearly fatally wounding So’Umbra and our new friend Varn. But after seeing that Theoi sends an intimidating strike straight through one of the imps causing the rest to flee in fear. As Theoi is the only one who should be worshiped we destroyed all the statues. The rest of the rooms in the hall were barracks containing belongings of previously living residents.
The very last room in the building is a chapel. Which contains an imp from the grand hall an acolyte and two horrific shadowy figures one tried to suck out Theoi’s soul and the other passed through a wall. Theoi backs off to let So’Umbra set the room ablaze with a powerful cast of Burning-hands that incinerates one of the shadow creatures and the acolyte, the imp still alive gets whacked by So’Togu leaving the imp barely alive.
We leave The Animals as they enter the streets of Gotwiel again ablaze, destroyed, a familiar sight.
The Gates of Gotwiel
5th of Asmodeus 457 BI
While approaching Gotwiel about 100ft from the gate, the rifts opened, swarming us with dretches. Theoi not phased, charges to fight his foes with So'Umbra by his side they cut down their opponents left and right. Bravely Theoi goes head to head with the leader of the rift invasion a bearded dretch getting swarmed and battered with blows. Captain Ritik who was assigned with guarding the gate very selfishly took the kill on the bearded dretch and the rest of the fiends were no match.
The group with the city in shambles is being swarmed with fiends as rifts open all throughout it take refuge in the cities tunnel system which connects with the sewers. The group is not safe there though. Soon after entering the tunnels, they are ambushed by chokers who grab So’Umbra and Eurynome and pull them under the cities sewer waters. The ambush took the group heavily by surprise nearly killing all the members but in the twist of fates, Theoi breaks the hold of a choker and uses his divine powers to heal Eurynome. The two of them together manage to defeat the rest of the chokers losing Captain Ritik’s life during the fight they manage to survive and find their way out.
Entering a chamber further down the tunnels they find the rest of the soldiers with broken morales. They notice Captain Ritik is not with the group and start to face the idea of defeat, but So’Togu informs them all is well for Theoi and his brave companions will lead the cities defense. Gotwiel’s remaining guards look to Theoi and are instantaneously inspired his cloak flutters in the slight breeze in the tunnels a shining divine aura surrounds him and the sound of thunder as he raises his sword.
