Dal (Dahl)

Both the Realm of Senses and the living concept of Dal.

Dalisthen, The Realm of Senses

The Realm of Senses is perhaps the hardest to conceptualize, but that's because without it most have no proper gauge on the other realms. The Realm of Senses brings sight, sound, smell, taste, touch, and feel into existence. This means that in all reality, in the other spiritual realms these concepts don't exist. This is why two people can be in the same realm and see two completely different worlds.

Dal is obviously the realm that brings a lot of the laws into a form that makes it easier to interact with, holding the physical plane together, without Dal you wouldn't be able to tell what's actually going on in it.

Dal, Ruler of the Realm of Senses

Dal as a person is as you would expect. Just as Akc invokes a fear of death and Eth seems like a relentless heat, Dal is a sensory overload in every way, a swarm of both pleasant and unpleasant senses just by being in their vicinity. Those who have seen them, or claim they have seen them, often describe it as colors, smells, tastes, feelings, sounds, and even something touching them. All of which are new sensations, colors and smells they've never felt before, a strange touching sensation all over their skin, a texture they've never felt before.

This of course is to be expected from someone not just the ruler of a realm, but the ruler of a realm so many people rely on without even noticing it. Dal tends to be fairly unapproachable and hard to talk to, not because of their personality, but because of the sheer overload. As such some of the times people try to actually hold conversations it's actually with something like a sub-ruler, like the ruler of sight or smell. Though most often people will talk to a Feeling, that is, the spirit-types that work for Dal.

Dal is often described as having indescribable gravitas and charisma that sheerly overwhelms people. If this is true or not people have yet to actually decipher.

Spirits

Not really surprisingly, the spirits of Dal tend to be a sensory given form. People who try and discuss with them will find it's hard to properly communicate with all but sounds. As sounds perform normal conversation. Sights prefer to take shapes and smells prefer to create a scent to smell, and so on.

Something that someone noticed was that someone blind could not detect a Sight. They never got a clear answer on if this was the full list of spirits or if this is just what the average person can detect.

Sights

Sights are the most common spirit in Dalisthen, as so many people rely on sight, more are required. Sights have no sensory of detection other than seeing them, and they tend to take different shapes and the like to communicate.

Sounds

Sounds are perhaps the easiest to communicate to, as they will use sounds to communicate, and thus usually words. They don't always, and particularly cheeky ones will use random sounds to get the idea across instead.

Smells

Often called one of the favorites of animals. Scents are detected through smelling. They tend to be attributed to animals a lot due to how much animals use their nose.

Tastes

Tastes are just as it'd be imagined, a flavor. It's not uncommon for a particularly aspired chef to make a deal with one to make their foods taste good, or so the legend goes.

Feels

Touching and the like, these feels aren't emotions but the feeling to feel things touching someone. While these are varied into various categories like heat, they all fall under Feels.

Detections

Perhaps the hardest to find, Detections can only be felt by those who understand how to detect usually magical presences. While most humans are capable of it, not all hone the skill, and thus can not detect the Detections.

Shamans

Shamans of Dalisthen are not too overly common, though they are known for standing out in some way to a lot of people, usually depending on which of the spirits they made a contract with.

Common Appearance

Shamans of Dalisthen tend to stand out appearance-wise. With the effect only getting stronger when given more power in the realm

Common Tasks

The task of a Shaman of Dalisthen is typically to get someone to experience that sense. Not always in a pleasurable way, not always in a rude way, just to experience it. Their contractor often will give them a sense and a person. This can be anything from poking someone in the back of their neck or setting off a firework near them. The contactor will never give them an order that would injure, harm, or otherwise put either party in a bad position.
One of the more jovial of the Smell Shamans referred to his duty as "Stinky Bounty Hunting"

Common Abilities

The abilities granted to a Shaman of Dalisthen is to produce or alter a sense of their jurisdiction. While not particularly useful to many, as anything that would interfere with people in a way that could be considered Illusions tends to fall under Tu, some people use this as a way to quietly alter something subtle.

Common Bans

The common bans of a Shaman of Dalisthen is usually to not cut off a specific sense, even in jest. For sight Shamans this means no putting on a blindfold or putting a blindfold on someone else. For smell it could be to not plug your nose, even if the smell is horrid. Blocking out a sense is usually some form of insult.
