Tower of Sra’kin
The Tower of Sra’kin is a tower residing the centre of the City of Sodis.
The Tower is owned by the current Speaker, and will trade ownership to whoever the Speaker happens to be at the time.
Like the Sanctuary of Sodis, the Tower of Sra’kin is regarded as sacred, and only blasphemers and heretics would dare enter uninvited.
Purpose / Function
The Tower’s original purpose was to connect the Sanctuary of Sodis to the City, but over time, became more of a meeting hall to discuss religious matters free from the hustle of the city.
Design
The room at the top of the tower is circular, the walls are made of Whitestone but painted a dim blue on the interior. There are beautiful paintings of the previous Speakers. There is a long centre table with the Speaker’s chair at the end.
Entries
There are eight windows spaced an equal distance around the room, as well as a stairwell leading to the bottom of the tower. Curtains are drawn over the windows at night.
Sensory & Appearance
The room is painted dim blue, and is illumated by a chandelier that is lit at night, the room is otherwise illuminated by natural light. The room smells oddly of lavender, despite any flowers or origin. Like all things in the City of Sodis, the room looks remarkable, but upon closer inspection, the paintings are flaking, and the floor is scratched. The room is eerily quiet, but this silence is thwarted by debate at the centre table. The Tower is protected against snow and rain from the Sanctuary above it, but is still as cold, due to the windows being empty in the top chamber.
Contents & Furnishings
There is a long centre table made of Ironwood, as well as 10 chairs. Four on each side, and two at either end, one of which belongs to the Speaker.
Alterations
The Tower has been rebuilt multiple times as the Sanctuary has lowered slightly and crushed the roof. But it has generally remained the same.
Originally, the Tower was only a tower, but was then given divine protection against intruders and attack.
Architecture
The Tower resembles ancient Enfrysian towers, though it has been improved through the use of divine magic and whitestone bricks.
The Tower is lined witharge stained windows depicting scenes of battle, harvest, creation, romance, a war between the gods, the two moons colliding, the forming of Terr’ Dalibra, and a portrait of the great Sodis himself, guiding holy light to protect his followers in the City of Sodis from plague.
History
Founded in 712 of 2E, the Tower Sra’kin was erected originally to connect the Sanctuary of Sodis and act as a secure centerpoint in which to view all the City of Sodis.
Unfortunately, the Sanctuary of Sodis moves, and has crushed the roof of the tower countless times. Two years after construction (714) the tower was granted divine protection against impact, as well as protection against intrusion.
