Hronians

"The Sea People of the East"

Hronians are a major ethnic group native to the Metsian Peninsula and comprise one third of the Ullian Racial Categories. They are adapted to a life at sea with webbed feet, large wingspans, incredible lung capacities, and eexcellent vision in the dark. The also tend to have dark violet and blue complexions, and pointed ears horizontal that extend towards the back of their heads.

Ancient History

Hronian Mythology traces their origin to an ancient race of deep sea dwelling demigods called Hrog. While remnants of such a people have yet to be discovered, the Hronians certainly can trace their roots back to human bands living on the coasts and islands of the Metisian Sea.

These people traveled great distances in boats and large rafts with great nets made of rope that allowed them harvest various fishes and other marine creatures for food. Recent dental evidence found in Lake Myakeyo suggest that they even ate topplerfretts—a type of shellfish found exclusivity in dark caves half a mile below sealevel. Thus indicating the early origins of Hronian deep sea diving culture.

One theory as to when Hronians seem to have first emerged in their modern form was proposed by Dr. Keyo Matahn. In her book The Sea People of the East, she proposes that Hronians first emerged in the 35th century BE as nomads settling as far as the Middle Islands and even as far as the eastern Aylish coastline with some influential pockets in the Metisian East. This ancient people were the first to use Metisian Witchcraft and even to use Metisian steel. "Because this steel is so light weight," Matahn writes, "it would have been optimal for use in the water. And we see this in the various spearheads and other tools found throughout the Metisian coastline." It is also proposed that this is where the matriarchal structure of Hronian society bigins as the size of Hronian male skeletons begins to shrink. It is possible, however that this social structure began earlier before this trait emmerged,

Enter the Metisians

The vast territories of this people, however, would shrink as in the 3rd millennium BE gyann voyagers from Guildwelliah migrated into the region and forced the Hronians out to the dry eastern deserts. Even four and a half thousand years later—in the age of Deonna's Empire—Hronian people are being forced from their ancestrial home.
