The cult also serves as a millitary school for Deonnic warriors to learn the ways of witchcraft. While much of Metisian women are able to utilize some Earth or water magic, it is within ths organization that they can evolve their skills to magic type beyond the basic two.

History

In the days of the Deonnic Empire, the cults were adopted into the Deonnic Canon. er as part of the empire's stratagy to combine the popular faiths of Metis in to a singular religion with the empress, Deonna IV, as the head. Thus, in the literature of this time period Dustgirl and Dewmaiden appear as demigodesses who teach the main hero, Deonna I, the was of witchcraft.

Mythology & Lore

The myths of Dustgirl and Dewmaiden are the primary origin myths of Metisian Witchcraft.

The mythical figure known as Dewmaiden is said to have been drowned by her younger brothers in an attempt to steal her birthright. The Earth goddess, however, took pity on her and the girl emerged from the river with the abilty to bend the earth's waters to her will.

According to tradition, all Metisian magic decends from these two early witches. This myth also reflects certain qualities of Metisian magic such as it often being a sort of fear response. Most Metisian witches first discover their powers during times of intense stress. The myth also captures the belief that all magic types stem from the base two types of earth and water.
