The Goliath Valley

The Fairytale: "Goliath vs. the Scarlet Dragon"

Young Goliath was a big boy with an even bigger appetite. No matter what his parents fed him he always wanted more.

His father fed him thirty eggs each morning, but each time after he would say, "I'm still hungry." His father fed him fifty more eggs and once again he said, "I'm still hungry!"

"We have no more eggs," his father said. Finally, Goliath marched outside and devoured every hen in the coop. "I've had enough of you," his father said, "from now on you will eat outside. Away from the table."

After that day, Goliath worked with his mother in the field, but he'd drink every bucket of milk they'd collect and when that wasn't enough he devoured three head of cattle. And when that wasn't enough he ate the whole herd, but bite after bite he would say, "I'm still hungry!"

"I've had enough of you," his nother said, "from now on we this is no longer your home. We can no longer afford to feed you, so you must now find your own food."

Goloath wandered into the woods where he found an orchard of twenty apple trees. One by one he devoured every apple of every tree and afterward he yet agian said, "I'm still hungry."

He turned to the south and saw a river flowing with fish. All at once he scooped it up with his hands and gulped it down all at once — fish and all. In its place today lies the Goliath Valley.

Then at once the ground erupted with a roar. A scarlet river dragon had emerged growling, "What has happened to my home? Why have you gobbled it up like so?"

"I'm still hungry!" Goliath yelled. The two then tussled. Goliath grabbed the horn and wrestled it across the now dry valley and with every jab Goliath threw, the dragon snapped its teeth trying to bite off the boy's head. The beast then grabbed him by the right arm, causing the boy to cry out.

With pained tears, Goliath reached his left hand to the beast eye and ripped it out blinding it.

In pain the monster loosened its grip and clutched at its skull. But as Goliath's hand left the creature's mouth he ripped a tooth from its jaw. And with it sliced open it's belly, spilling out the monsters poor victims which it had eaten alive.

He and the people whom the beast had eaten then cut the beast to pieces and brought it home to his mother and father who praised him as a hero.

They all feasted on the beast meat and sold its scales, teeth, and horns for a variety of wealth, and finally, Goliath was no longer hungry.
