WorldEmber 2023 Homework Prep

WorldEmber 2023 Homework Prep

The Pledge

After a long hiatus I have returned to WorldAnvil with a new project in mind, Terra Amissa! This is a speculative evolution project that will be viewed through the journals and records written by various characters, and takes place on a world that has been seeded with life from throughout Earth's history.
The project is still in very early stages, I've got a few ideas for different creatures, articles, and overall plot points. I've already added my first in-world article, and have a list of out-of-world articles to keep track of different aspects of the world mentioned in the first article. For this WorldEmber my only goal is to write 10,000 words, since this project is so new.

Mini Meta

Scope
At the moment I am trying to set up the initial discovery of Terra Amissa and the current state of Earth, but once the initial outpost is set up and the portal is closed, I plan on exploring much of the outpost and surrounding areas.

Theme and Mood
The mood of the world is mid-dark, with the outpost's struggle to adjust living on a different planet with no back up from Earth, and the theme is survival/man vs nature/isolation.

Goals
My current goal is just to get back in the habit of writing, and write 10,000 words during the months of December.

Inspirations
I've currently got three main inspirations when it comes to Terra Amissa. First is Tales of Kaimere, which has inspired me to work on a speculative evolution project. Next is Terra Nova, which gave me the idea to have a outpost inhabited by Humans that can no longer contact Earth. My last inspiration is The Mystery Flesh Pit National Park, where I got the idea to explore the world through in-world files, journals, and news articles.

Home Page

Since this project is so new there isn't much to the home page at the moment but I did add a few short paragraphs introducing the world premise. I'm also only adding new folders as I create new articles so I don't have a ton of empty folders, making it harder to find what I have written.
In the future I'd like to add images to my homepage and articles, in order to make my project stand out and give it life. However I need to finish my world map, rediscover my desire to draw and not get frusterated after five minutes, and find out where I left my ability to concentrate. It's been missing for awhile so if you find it please let me know.

Last Minute Prep

Don't think I'll be doing to much prep for this WorldEmber, I've been trying to sort out some things irl so I've been having a hard time dedicating lots of time towards this and I don't know how much time I'll be able to work on this in the upcoming month. For now I'll just focus on making sure everything is spelt correctly, articles are linked, etc.

Welcome back! What an interesting idea, I checked out your first article and liked it a lot (am sad for poor Asha </3 though). Looking forward to seeing you expand your new setting over World Ember. :)
