Terra is a world where the rich aristocrats of the Deladian Empire seek to control the lower classes and to increase their stores of Ferrium, the source of magic in Terra. Players are new immigrants to the City of Ferrus, who has still to fall to the Empires advances. It is a city created by merchants who have formed powerful guilds and syndicates who seek to further their own ambitions but are willing to band together in dire times against outside threats.   The primary resource of Terra is ferrium, which is a powerful magical substrate activated by kinetic energy that is a physical embodiment of all the types of magic in Terra. It is found deep within the earth, and in some of the more ancient ruins of the Empires which stood long ago. Gold is used as currency, although it is a scarce and precious commodity. Much of trade is still done through bartering and trading services. The Diladian Empire has made sure to amass vast stores of Ferrium in their vaults in Nova, the capital as well as in heavily guarded vaults across the empire.   The Kingdom of Ferrus is a wealthy free nation that has access to a natural store of ferrium found deep within the mines of the Temporal Mountains. This has made the city rich, along with its premiere location as a port city for trade with the rest of the continent. The original city of Ferrus was built due east of the current city. 250 years ago, a massive invasion from a powerful lich and his army of demons, fae, and fiends invaded the lands of Ferrus. A massive coalition of Ferrus, the Atavarians, and the dwarves of Hammerlake met the host of evil creatures at the gates of the city.   The lich was defeated by a small group of heroes, led King Endo of Ferrus, but at great cost. King Endo, suffering from a mortal wound, sacrificed his own life and smashed the famed gem Hyperion to stop the lich from opening a portal to the Nine Hells. The resulting blast killed the King as well as destroyed the lich, but without the crystal's powerful magic, the city crumbled to dust, killing thousands. Ferrus was rebuilt in its current location, over the ruins of an ancient elven civilization, whose name and history has been lost from memory. Some say that intrepid explorers can find the riches of the elves if they brave the endless sprawling catacombs underneath the city...   In the last 250 years, Ferrus has become the hub for trade in Terra due to its central location along the Middle Sea. It's merchants became rich and powerful, and soon organized themselves into guilds which began running the affairs of the city in a loose coalition called "The Council". Among them, the most powerful is the Iron Brotherhood, protectors of the realm against evil as well as defenders of the ancient knowledge and history of Ferrus, most of which is located in the Library of Minaret.   Ever watchful, the guilds have noticed a growing influence in their city...the agents of the Diladian Empire are here...
