Bethauna - Region

Overview:

The region of Bethauna, also referred to as the Kingdom of Bethuana, is a large, militaristic region that controls more territory than any other kingdom in Bethos. It is widely regarded as the military capital of Bethos.

History:

Bethauna was once a kingdom located outside of Bethos. Even before the wall around Bethos fell, the aristocrats of Old Bethauna used to claim that they were the descendants of Bethosian Royalty. Due to this belief, when the walls around Bethos fell the nation of Bethauna tried to claim the land as there rightful territory. Unfortunately for Bethauna, the other kingdoms of Terra Meiyer didnt see things the same way. Many kingdoms began entering and claiming land inside of Bethos for themselves, regardless of what Bethauna desired. In an attempt to get a leg up on these kingdoms, the Bethauna decided moved there entire kingdom into the walls of Bethos. This gambit worked, and Bethauna became one of the strongest kingdoms, followed by regions, in Bethos. Not all residents of Bethauna decided to move inside the walls, choosing to remain in Old Bethauna.
Baethorpe was the first settlement in Bethos claimed by Bethauna, and it was constructed on the remains of a Bethosian city. After Baethorpe was refurbished, Bethuana began rebuilding other cities and claiming them as there own. Originally, each of these settlements filled a purpose. First Moem was build to be a military base, then Impel was build to be a prison camp, and finally Gilmesh was constructed to be the largest and most prosperous trading hub in Bethos. More settlements, such as Nardah, Mahon, and Miesk, have been constructed and/or conquered since but they do not serve specific purposes.

Diplomacy:

Despite Bethauna having a King and Queen, the monarchy does not rule over the kingdom. Instead, the kingdom is ruled by a governing branch of military, which is led by four powerful commanders. Each individual settlement in Bethauna is also overseen by a high-ranking military official who is given the title of Mayor. The mayor's are given the job of maintaining local order however they see fit.
