Campaign Introduction
For over 800 years, the country of Bethos was hidden from the people of Terra Meiyer behind an enormous wall. This was Bethos' legacy for over 800 years, until 20 years ago when the wall began to crack.
All at once large chunks of the wall began to crumble away creating passageways into country. Immediately adventurers flocked from around the continent to see the fabled kingdom of Bethos, but what they found was something nobody had expected. To everyones shock the entire kingdom had been seemingly abandoned. The various cities, while in poor condition, still remained but there were no signs that anyone had lived there for many decades. Although there were no signs of sapient life in Bethos, the land inside the wall was extremely lush and was home to various animals and monsters. On top of this, no treasure seemed to have been taken from the kingdom leaving large amounts of spoils for adventurers to find. Instead of being the fabled kingdom people expected, Bethos turned out to be a large chunk of unclaimed territory ripe for the taking.
Word of Bethos' true nature soon spread across Terra Meiyer and nations quickly began to fight over the territory inside of Bethos. Some kingdoms sent in small militia groups to search for treasure while others moved there entire kingdoms into the walls by refurnishing the remains of old cities, and claiming as much of the fertile land as they could in the process. This led to a new age of conflict inside the walls that has been going on for 20 years. In the present day multiple "superpower" factions, known as the Four Great Kingdoms, have taken claim over large sections of the land and are in constant conflict with each other. Other small smaller factions do exist but they cannot compete with the strength of the Great Kingdoms. Although the Great Kingdoms control most of Bethos, there is still no truly uncontested force within the walls. With the right allies, anyone could become the next Ruler of Bethos. On top of this, there is also still a plethora of unexplored landmarks and secrets waiting to be found.
This is where your story begins. You are an adventurer who has travelled across Terra Meiyer to enter Bethos for one reason or another. When you reach the the wall, you decided to rest in the settlement of Edgeville, a small town located just outside of the wall. This is where the campaign will begin, and it is up to you how long your character has been in Edgeville. The reason nobody has entered the wall yet is because the lift used to take people into Bethos is broken. While this has stopped you from entering Bethos until now, rumors of another passage into Bethos have been circulating the streets of Edgeville.
Your character can be from any existing location in Terra Meiyer other than Bethos, or if you would prefer, you can create a new home town for your character. Im not against adding new new locations to the map for lore purposes if it fits into the worlds theme. A map of the continent can be found below. While this map is be useful for viewing the entirety of the Terra Meiyer, almost all of this campaign will likely take place inside of Bethos. A list of the currently allowed races can be found here. If a race you would like to play is not listed here, let me know and I will look into adding it into the lore. If the species doesnt have any OP abilities I will likely have no issues adding it.
