Session 0.5
General Summary
Overview:
A day after the events of session 0, while most of the party recovered from their battle with the demonic creature, Lorival decided to explore the city of Vei’on. He soon ran into adventurers Daniel the Bard, Lenny the Fortuitous, Althea the Paladin, and John Doe the ... Something, and would join their party to help them find the pickpocket responsible for stealing Daniel the Bard’s prized Jesus Candle.Notable things that happened:
- A festival known as The Great Farm Race was happening in Vei’on. It was a series of races that took place over two days that would determine the fastest farm animal in the Region of Vei’on.
- The party went to a market, where they discovered Daniel was not the only victim of the pickpocket. While here, they also hustled some locals, learnt of a local wise man named Grayzag, and heard rumours of a monster stalking the town at night.
- The party decided to visit Grayzag to see if he had any information on the recent pickpocket incidents. The wise man did not know much, but did insinuate that there may be a deeper connection between the recent pickpockets and the monster rumour.
- The group found a street performer with a lute of illusion and decided to steal it from him. Daniel distracted the performer while John Doe successfully stole the instrument. While distracting the performer, Daniel learnt that the man had entered a cow into The Great Farm Race and was very confident in it because of a "secret training method". He bet Daniel that his cow would make it to the final race, so Daniel accepted the bet and told him he would meet him at the racetrack later.
- The party visited a local weapons store and met the owner, Tessa Raecrow. After sensing that Tessa was in distress, the party offered to help her in exchange for discounts on weapons. Tessa agreed to the terms, and shared with the party her dilemma. She explained that she only recently opened up her weapons store and ever since she did a rival store has been attempting to sabatoge business out of spite. She told the party that if they could do something about the harrassment she would give them their reward.
- The party split up for a few hours. One group spent this time staking out the rival store, known as Hollen’s Provision's, and decided they should raid the shop when they regroup. The second group investigated a recent monster sighting and found tracks caked in green bright mud.
- Daniel the Bard met the performer at the track and wagered 10 GP that his cow would not make it to the finals. After making the bet, Daniel secretly made his way towards the starting area. Once there, he found the performer's cow and offered it food if it threw the race. The cow seemingly agreed, as it soon threw the race by simply laying down instead of running. The disgruntled performer cursed about how “his secret training in the eastern green swamps was worthless” and disowned his cow. The cow, named Chops, then joined the party.
- The party raided Hollen’s Provision's by tying up the Hollen’s family and putting them in a back room. They then broke into the store's back vault and looted it for valuables. Finally, The party left as John Doe lit the building on fire with the Hollen’s family still in the back room. After this they went back to Tessa and got their discounted weapons.
- At night time, the party travelled to the Eastern green swamps and found a couple with a baby living in an abandoned house. They soon learnt the woman was the pickpocket and the husband, who could use wild shape magic, was the monster people had been sighting. They had been stocking up on money and food because they wanted to travel to Morah so their child could be safe. The party sympathised with them and let them safely leave for Morah. The couple left the party all the loot they did not need, which included Daniel's Jesus Candle.
- The next day, the party visited Vei’on’s town hall and were hired by Kennan, the head of Vei’on’s military, to guard the Great Farm Race Finale.
- While guarding the race, the track was ambushed by a Bethaunain battalion. The leader of the battalion claimed they were looking for “The one that walks on wheels” because they believe him to be responsible for killing the Bethaunian soldiers from session 0.
- The party fought the 3 lieutenants of the battalion and came out victorious, collecting the lieutenants gear as a prize. After this, the Bethaunian soldiers began to retreat. Kennan rewarded the party with GP and offered to let them become an official militia of Vei’on.
Rewards Granted
- After sparring the family of thieves, the party was given an assortment of trinkets and GP as a thank you.
- Kennan gave the party GP as a thank you for helping defend the City of Vei'on.
- As a reward for helping sabotage her compitition, Tessa Raecrow began offering the party a 25% off discount at her store, the Rusty Post.
