Magierjäger

Created by the Sorceror's Senate during the Weave Wars, this highly specialised group serves as a mage hunting unit. Cherry-picked from their strongest and brightest, these men and women are given the daunting task of hunting rogue arcane-wielders around the world. All bearing an innate ability to resist magic, possibly due to a genetic mutation, they exhibit the potential to become such elites from a young age. Trained and taught in specialised schools, the average age of a new recruit is around 13 years of age. If not already, they are taught to read and write while being trained in both the arcane and martial arts. Many not able to withstand the pressure and high-demand regimes, drop-outs are common. It is the few rare souls that can take the pain in their stride and harness their mind and body as ultimate weapons that are initiated into the Magierjäger.   Utilising strange, and sometimes cruel, techniques in the pursuit of an anti-mage elite, the initiates of this unit are identifiable by strange metallic markings on their faces, heads and bodies. Often displaying their unique mutations in the way of Heterochromia, locks of white hair or even extra appendages. All of the chosen are sorcerers by nature, imbued with the inherent magical ability afforded by their lineage. Although these bloodlines may differ greatly, all recruits possess a mutation known commonly as 'the Unberührt gene' - rendering them nearly impervious to most forms of magic.

Composition

Manpower

Units usually work in pairs, but have been known to work in 'quadrets' - groups of 4 initiates.

Equipment

The Magierjäger's arsenal includes a wide array of items designed to dispel, diffuse and counter various forms of magic. These items range from anti-magic grenades to counter-spell shields.

Weaponry

Relying on as little weaponry as possible, they usually sport only their fists and feet.

Structure

There is no hierarchy within the units, but each unit belongs to a sector and each sector belongs to a Sectorian - the leader of the sector. All Sectorians answer to the Senate directly.
