Fangs of Aasavaid

The Fangs of Aasavaid are a militant order of warrior knights formed from the ancestral followers of Khorosand Aasavaid, a legendary hero from Arkoshian history. Khorosand was one of the rebellion's leaders that first resisted the imperial thrall of the Turathi empire. While many Arkoshians were able to rally followers to retake ancestral holdings, and repel a young empire’s conquests, Khorosand gathered a group of brave (or reckless) warriors who would lead a daring assault against the High Warlock Avveus.
While Khorosand would ultimately fail in his attack on Avveus, his death was not in vain. Many of his brothers-in-arms survived the attack, and returned his body back to Arkoshia, where he was given one of the greatest funerals in Arkoshian legend. From there, his story would help forge the Fangs of Aasavaid into a formidable fighting force.
In later generations, the Fangs would grow beyond a mere militant army and into an investigative and inquisitorial organization. The Fangs of Aasavaid train not only their bodies, but their minds and are interested in ferreting out potential threats well before they manifest into a dire threat.
The Fangs of Aasavaid have a selective and grueling initiation, and only induct members that are true believers to their cause. Those that pass become devout and disciplined members of an austere organization. The Fangs of Aasavaid strike a balance between orderly conduct in the name of a higher goal, and the minimal flexibility needed to act at the edge of civilization.
