Kogatyr Liogos
The Kogatyr Liogos, or Knight Hospitallers, are a religious order of Warriors formed out of the Orthodox Church of Mordune. They were formed initially as part of the churches desire to reintegrate a sectarian branch, the Kovestants. Through a mixture of armed conflict, and diplomatic persuasion, they attempted to bring followers into the fold. Despite some sporadic success, the Kogatyr, or any force for that matter, would fail to prevent the Kovestants from solidifying into a legitimate faction.
From there, the Kogatyr reformed themselves initially into an altruistic independent organization, albeit sponsored by the church. There are several chapters that focus on one or more regions in and around Muscova, with variable reputations. Among the populaces, the Kogatyr are held as skilled warriors and charitable defenders, willing to fight for those that cannot. The Kogatyr have, unsurprisingly, formed a good relation with a neighboring faction, the Son’s of Turen. However, while the Son’s are a more centralized organization, the Kogatyr are much more independant, and are bound to the order mainly through the bonds of companionship, loyalty and trust to their brothers-in-arms and commanders.
Almost anyone interested may join the Kogatyr, and after passing an initiation process, they are recognized as a member. Afterward, they may retire when they choose, though most don’t, and consider the Kogatyr a divine purpose in their lives. Most subsist upon the meager sponsorship of local parishes, and the charity of the populations they serve, but to be one of the Kogatyr, it is considered a blessing.
