Sons of Turen
The Sons of Turen are a devout order of Justicars that formed for the self-expressed reason to uphold the virtues of order and balance within civilization. Founded within a couple generations of formation of the Turathi Empire, the Sons stood as a beacon of purity and hope for the civilized folk who have known the cruelty of tyranny and despotic rulership.
The exact size of the Sons of Turen aren’t known, but the organization is said to have several chapters spread through Kreata and Orela (primarily in and around the former domain of the Turathi empire). Among their chief charges are the defense of the innocent, the conservation of law, and the pursuit of true justice. With these tenants as their guiding principles, members of the Sons of Turen work to forge themselves into Champions, both of the Spear and the Pen. Their regiments travel from town to town to offer aide, investigate rumors, and dispense justice where it can be had.
The original members of the Sons were considered to be Chosen, according to ancient legend. Divine agents of the gods, they were gifted with incredible powers that they shaped in the image of their guiding beacon, Turen, the ancient Turathi champion, and leader of the first paragons. For generations afterward, the Sons would seek out gifted individuals, and work to recruit them into their order, and instruct them in the principles they held sacred.
During the height of the Empire’s reign, the Sons sought to expand their numbers with individuals who, while lacking in the gift of the gods, where nonetheless devoted to the cause. This decision would form a schism that would ultimately lead to a break within the order, and the formation of several heratical branches. Nonetheless, the incorporation of more common folk helped strengthen the organization against insurrection and defeat, and propel its influence for generations
