Terra, Solis System (circa. 2030)

1. January, 2030 C.E.

Created by

The planet Terra – the fourth planet from the star Solis. Capable of sustaining carbon-based lifeforms, lush vegetation, large oceans, and having several Pangea/archipelago-type, this hunk of rock floats with its two satellites, Titan and Walküre, within the Solis System. It is home to humanity, the only known vestige of sentient life in the universe.   For roughly half of a million years, humanity – the de facto life form on Terra – have been growing alongside each other. Empires have risen and fallen. Cultures born and killed by time, blood, and simple mistakes. The history of these peoples, and this world, is long, fruitful, and bloody in some cases. The divide between Eastern and Western philosophies, born from the great minds and souls of the past, has shaped cultures in ways many would not see coming for hundreds, or even thousands of years. In the western continents, the tribes of the Germanic and Vus people thrive in the odd clime of tundra, deserts, and temperate forests. In the far east, the Chalrek and Tsu-Mun cultures conducted hundreds of years of the art of war, shaping their cultures around honourable combat. And finally, in the middle lands, the Imperium of Urea and of Eluvia, and their many vassal states.   History in these lands spoke of Holy men and women, of magics both wonderful and foul, up until the death of what many called the Age of Gods and Kings or the Era of Heroes, in 1099 B.C.E. The Era was ruled by magic, of feats that would be counted as godlike in modern times. Armies lead by heroes, fighting magical beasts such as dragons and other monsters, nations and states built upon foundations of religion and holy magics, et cetera. The death of the Echtkaiser, Juha Bach, was what many believed to be the end of the era of magic and soothsayers, and from there-on advances in sciences and logic would be the rule of the land, however. And with the death of magic, humanity’s cold feelings to one another were allowed freedom upon the land.   The year is now 2030 C.E. For the past two centauries, science, military might, greed, and the expansion of both world powers and economies have commanded the hearts of men. The turn of the 20th Century brought about the teachings of Richter’s ideals on communism, the rise of fascism, the fall of many monarchies, and the build up towards a world-wide war, eventually ending up with the Great War in 1942 C.E. While the war ended (for most) in the later 1940s, several kept the war going until the mid- or late-50s. What followed after could only be described as mass paranoia; full-blown revolutions, cold wars between world powers, states-upon-states surfacing from dead lands. The scientists of the world, instead of focusing on better human life, ran an arms race against each other. Not only that, but the nuclear arms race between the major- and world-powers reached a critical point in 1987, where the world sat on the brink of nuclear war.   It never came. Instead, an uneasy peace reigned in the world for the next four decades, as militaries descaled their stockpiles. A peace – the Uneasy Peace – stabilized the world. Now, scientists look to the stars, and the satellites orbiting Terra. Technology’s leaps and bounds made by these men and women of the world propel humanity’s eyes upwards, garnering new hopes. And even still, there appears to be a bubbling, crackling feeling in the air. Practitioners of the unknown arts and the Echtmonche feel it even more. The possibility that something big is awakening from its slumber, something that could change the world and shift the balance once again.   And in the Silbern – the resting place of the Echtkaiser – monks there speak of whispering from the crypt of their Holy Emperor, Juha Bach…
