The Sundering is the name for a collection of interrelated natural and metaphysical disasters that impacted the planet Earth on the Prime Material Plane. These events are related to, but discrete from, events that occurred as a result of the Convergence.
The Sundering and the Convergence was a collection of global events that struck the world of Terra, then known as Earth. Although the initial events of the Sundering and the Convergence took place over the course of a year, it was not until 31 years later, when the planar rifts and meldings were stabilised and an order of sorts was established by the events of the Convention of Mechanus, that the Convergence was considered concluded.
A period of approximately 31 years (as few as 19 to as many as 94) where the world was in such disarray that traditional time-keeping was unreliable. The beginning of the Lost Years is generally held to have begun during the Sundering with the Cleaving of California, includes the events of the Convergence, and concluded with the start of the Year of Convention.
The year in which the order of the Sundered Realm was debated by the mortal and immortal races of the world and its adjoining planes of existence.
A meeting where the representatives of the races of Terra, mortal and immortal alike, gathered to establish a baseline of continuity for the planet as it existed on the Prime Material Plane. Two of the most enduring results of the Convention of Mechanus are the name of the world - Terra - and the Terran calendar.
The Conflict of the Many was a war between fey folk from the Feywild, under the leadership of the archfey Elomis, and the scattering of human communities of the Kyron region in Kooriland. Elomis' demesne in the Feywild had been decimated by contact with the Prime Material Plane during the Convergence, which severely weakened the archfey. Elomis blamed the humans of Earth-That-Was for the damage to her and her demesne, and spent the better part of the next two centuries plotting her revenge. She brought other disgruntled fey creatures under her sway, sought out items of great magical power, and hoarded her own strength and magic. By 274 AT, Elomis' power was restored enough that she was able to send small parties of fey beings through the Arynoss Melding to Terra in order to harass the humans of the area. They also began the process of building a device that would, when used with a device held by Elomis in the Feywild, act as a door stop, keeping the Arynoss Melding open enough for Elomis to pass into Terra. Elomis eventually entered Terra herself, and managed to wedge open the Arynoss Melding, allowing her followers out into the prime material plane. Elomis and the Many immediately began attacking human settlements, marching north from the Arynoss Melding. The human settlements in that region were small, and cooperation was poor due to competition for land and resources. When faced with a large horde of furious fey beings, humans fought and died or fled for their lives. Lexa Nerida, a cleric of Istus and a human born in the area of Kyron, returned home to find her friend's village had been razed by Elomis and the Many, and that her own village was next. She devoted herself to the fight, and rallied the villages and small towns of the area to fight together The conflict concluded in a vicious battle on the site of the future city of Kyron, which ended when Lexa struck a fatal blow against Elomis, killing the archfey and sending the many fey beings under Elomis' command into disarray.
Adrie Helazged, daughter of Queen Hela Nerida of Kyron and Erevan, High Councillor of Lyndras. Adrie leveraged her claim to the throne of Kyron and a seat on the Council of Lyndras to create a homeland for disenfranchised half-elves across the Islands of Straya and beyond.
The founding of Seerehaven by Adriè Helazged, the daughter of the human Queen Hela of Kyron and the elf Lord Erevan of Lyndras. Seerehaven began as a shantytown in the Border Deep Wastes, a contested area between the territories of Kyron and Lyndras. In exchange for renouncing her birthright to the throne of Kyron and a seat on the High Council of Lyndras, Adriè was given the landholding rights to the Border Deep Wastes.
