10TH Chevalier Optimates Atlantis
Overview
The Cavalier Legion of the Tenth - the Cavaliers are the sons and daughters of the noblest families in the Kingdoms - each of the tenth Chevaliers actually commands a Watch Castle that guards some part of the Atlantean Infrastructure which is critical to the kingdoms in some way. The 10th consist of 7 Cohorts.Variations In Names
The Cavalier Legions are variously known as Chevalier, Cavaliers, or the Order, being Knights who fight under the Banner of a Royal or Holy Order Title.Composition
The Legion is formed under the trident of the Cavalier - Cavalry Units, and carries a standard adorned by the Praesidium Roman Numerals derived from the texts found in the Military section of the Royal Library of Atlantis. The 10th chevalier Optimates are divided into 7 Cohorts - and they seek to operate in 10s. Each Conturbium Unit is 10 strong, 10 of these are put together to form a Centuria, being a 100 strong heavy horse. The Centuria is each commanded by a Centurion, and a Cohort of 5 Centuria form the 500. heavy horse that are normally put forward in a mass charge. There are officially 7 Cohorts in the Legion giving a mass of 35 Centuria or 3500 heavy cavalry for the entire 10th Legion.Proof of Power
The 10th - is a highly glorified Legion and is primarily a Guardian Legion. They have established a series of watch towers and even full castles on the Plain of Atlantia Planetia and use their position to keep the plains at peace. Patrols are sent out daily to ensure that the Royal Roadways are kept clear or bandits and humanoid incursions.The entrance into the Legion only comes if you have achieved if the Character has a family connection with the highest levels of Atlantis's elite, and if they have achieved at least 5th Level as a Cavalier or Paladin, OR 7th Level as a Ranger, OR 9th Level as a Warrior. No dual or multi-class characters are accepted into the 10th - you must have stayed true to your calling to show you are focused enough to serve in the 10th.
Cohort Divisions
The X's - the Tens
These are the combat based cohorts of the Legion and are normally cavaliers, paladins, warriors and rangers who are accustomed to close quarter combat. These number 5 cohorts in all.
The V's - the Fives
The Fives are the scouting force of the legion, and number 2 cohorts of rangers and noble warriors trained in scouting, tracking and intelligence gathering. They are frowned upon by the other parts of the legion but needed.
