21st Orion Oakmasters

Overview

The 21st Orion Oakmasters are a specialist unit of the Atalantean Armed Forces - they are one of several 'Legend Killer Legions', namely Legions formed from the Giant Killer, Dragon Slayer, Medusa Murderer types of heroes. They specialise in killing the most difficult of monsters that can be encountered, and are renowned for their skills in combating the legendary creatures with the most terrible of powers.

Composition

The Legion is formed under the trident of the Rangers, and carries a standard adorned by the Medusa Head to signify the specialisation of the Legion. But the composition of the company is far more varied than Rangers, basically any successful monster slayer can apply for entry into these types of fighting forces.

Proof of Kill

The Oakmasters - as their name implies - spend most of their time in the wilderness more to the north than in the southern parts of the continent - and entrance into the Legion can be gained if you have proof of killing what they consider to be a Legendary Beast or Monster. Each such kill is kept as a 'tab' against your name with an Ace ranking being received if you kill five legendary creatures, and specialist aces are noted for killing five of one type of creature. In all cases witnesses or proof of kill if possible are needed.

Awards Given

Each confirmed slaying of a Legendary is recorded against the individual's record and their ranking in the Legion is noted - those who reach the upper three levels of rankings are accorded Orion Status. An Orion Hunter in the Legion is one of the top three hunters and there are in fact many more such Orions - every species has an Orion Trinity that signify the top three killers of that species.
