House of Thinnmal - Faded Gold House

Overview

The Thinnmal are said to have been formed by Artemis as the Sun's rays weakened and this inspired the name Faded Gold for the line. It is a family line that committed itself to the bardic field and sagecraft. The researches undertaken were chronicled from the outset, making the Thinnmal Chronicles the most prized of all tomes, books and librams by Sages and Wizards throughout Atlantis.

The Thinnmal Library was rumored to be the home to numerous secrets and skills if anyone were able to find it.

House Sigil

The House sigil is of Apollo, it indicates not only the fading of the Sun's Rays but also the strong connection between the Bard Class and the Master of the Muses. The Twelve points encircling the Sun are variously interpreted as the Twelve Houses of Elvenkind, the Twelve Months during which Elves are born, and some say, the Twelve Muses of Apollo. The Thinnmal have never disclosed what they stand for.

House Assets

The Thinnmal are a very taciturn House, their Bardic tradition is noted for it's incredible knowledge and thirst for more of the same. These Bards are skilled Storytellers, in fact they are known as Wordweavers in Common.

Chief among their assets is the Thinnmal Library, known to the Thinnmal themselves as The Archive. This Library allows any Thinnmal with direct access to function as their own Bard - being able to perform Legend Lore on any item found as if they were a Bard of 4 levels lower than their true level. This is only possible if the character has direct access to the library and takes 20 weeks - 1 week per level of the character.

The real power of this library however comes in to play when the referrer is a Bard - in this case the Legend Lore is performed as if 4 levels higher in ability. The same is true of Read Languages, which can also be performed with a bonus +40 in ability to their current Read Languages ability.

(Page 70 PHBR8 Complete Elves Book)

The Thinnmal are accomplished archers, but are most admired for their unique version of Bladesong - they are able to make their blades actually speak metalic sounding words (mostly insults but also simple one syllable to two syllable words such as Peace, Parley, or Mistake) as they fight.
