Lesheraith House of Thieves

Overview

Lesheraith or Thief House, is the Elven version of a Thieves Guild. It is modeled on the Elven House system, with one key difference, it permits multiple House memberships. Therefore, just as any Elven Rogue belonging to the House Leshearith is a member of that House, he or she is equally a member of their birth House.

House Lesheraith often acts as the Orphan's House - in the Elven context this is an Elf without a Birth House, an Elf who has been disowned, abandoned at birth, or has been found, but was too young to know anything of Houses (or even the language for that matter). In rare cases it can be an Elf from a destroyed House - but none have been known to claim to come from such a house and been able to prove it.

Alternate Name

The more polite name for this house is House Yunquenta. Yunque - means 'Twelve' and -enta means 'One Beyond, or One More'. So 'One more than Twelve', referring to the House as being a House of the Elves but, not one of the Twelve. This is the method by which most Thieves and Non-thieves refer to the Lesheraith in mixed company.

Motto

The House of Thieves claims that the Sun never touches the entire membership of the Guild at any one time. This of course is referencing the ability to hide in shadows ability. The less intelligent have assumed that this means there are many members, all around the world.

House Sigil/Symbol

The House Symbol is a mixture of errant symbolism, intentionally chosen, and said to be inspired by the waning moon, waves, and legend of Tidal Bat, said to prefer the Dark Side of the Moon that freely moves between the Moon and the Earth shifting entire oceans of water each time to create the tides. It was said to still have a silver chain about its right leg from it's time captured by Hekate. No one has ever seen the creature, and yet it influences the World.

House Assets

The Yunquenta are the Rogue, Thieves and Assassin's Guild of Elvenkind. Their tradition is that of the lone wolf, but this is simply their propagated image. They always seek to promote themselves as solo adventurers or lone operatives. In actuality, this is part of their strategy to present Elven Rogues as one-elf armies of effectiveness. As such, Elves sent forth on missions from the Yunquenta are always equipped with the best equipment and the best intelligence.

Often they are actually dispatched as The ónoni. The ónoni are twin units. That is, they are Elves who are nearly identical, most especially in physical build and mannerisms. The first ón represents the senior or eldest of the ónoni, and the second on in the word represents the junior or younger of the two. These two operatives are never seen together, yet perform the same mission, each is skilled in different skills that facilitate the mission, one may be an expert in finding traps, whilst the other is best at opening locks, but they act as one rogue. They appear as one rogue to the hiring party - allowing the 'single rogue' to achieve far more than others would ever assume possible.

The main asset of the house is their extensive Rogue and Thief orientated training facilities, equipment, and research facilities. Members of the house have an extensive number of tricks and gadgets to choose from in the pursuit of their field.

Bladesong and Elven Archery Availability

(Page 70 PHBR8 Complete Elves Book)

The Yunquenta are known for a version of Bladesong known as Whisper. In the case of the Rogue the Bladesong is actually totally silent, but has the same effect. Rogues can choose to make their blades sing or stay silent. At 3rd level, the blades are used to mimic certain birds, allowing them to use the blades as a part of their Thieves Cant communication at night to signal operatives over longer distances.Elven Archery can be gained but there is no distinctive element to this.

Languages

As a Thieves Guild, the Yunquenta use a form of Thieves Cant. The Thieves Cant of Elvenkind is based on the 52 Card deck, with the Deck style being based on Gold and Silver rather than Red and Black. Diamonds and Hearts are Gold, whilst Clubs and Spades are Silver. This allows the Guild to easily use the Spade Suit to represent the Elven Houses - this use of the Suit in this fashion is indicated by a turning or twirling of the card in mid 'sentence'.
