Slaver Culture

Overview

The Slaver Culture of the Lower Reaches are a mysterious group said to be a conglomerate of two other more ancient orders of power in the world. The Top and bottom of their brand is said to symbolise this. Slaves branded with this brand (also the symbol of the regime) are said to be trackable by Slavehunters of the Group.

Structure

The Slavemasters owe their fealty to a mysterious kingdom far to the East that makes extensive use of slavery.

The High Slavelord runs a set of citadels at the edges of the desert - each citadel has a Slavelord who must meet a quota each month.

The Slavelords use an army of informants and Slavehunters to enforce their ownership. Slaves who escape are hunted down by Slavehunters who are said to be remorseless in their efforts to track down those who dare to escape their owners.

Culture

Flesh is both food and currency in this culture. But there is an over-arching philosophy that a Dead Slave only serves the ground it is buried in - and not it's true master - the Djinn. A wasted slave is a wasted future - so many Djinn seek to subjugate and weaken rather than slay outright.

The Orcs are carnivores and the work in the mines and pits of the Slavers is never ending. Everyone has the potential to be a slave or a slavelord - many slave lords were in fact slaves originally but have since carved out their own part of the network. But to a Djinn master - there is little difference between a Slavelord and a Slave.

Slaves can be workers or fighter-slaves (Gladiators) - each type of slave will have different brands - some are branded as worker or as gladiator multiple times as a result of this switching between the two roles. Slavelords try to hide their previous brands.

Public Agenda

The Slaver Lords openly state that they will enslave the world to develop their state.

Assets

The SlaveLords maintain several Citadels of Captivity. The Citadels act not only as trade centres for the slavers but also as front line forts to protect the Slaver Lord main client kingdoms. The Citadels have extensive defensive forces and position as well as tribes of Desert Orcs who patrol the surrounding wastelands for food, supplies and slaves.

History

The SlaveLords are new to the area and appeared from out of the East of Atlantis in a cloud of sand that is said to have blotted out the Sun and cast itself over the entire Lower Reach to form a desert-wasteland over night. This is of course an exaggeration but does fit with Dwarven records for the far east of the Reach. The other areas of the Lower Reach were turned into a Wasteland with the eruption of several volcanoes that sent ash spewing over the eastern ridge of the Kharazad Kingdom. The desolation that appeared would then go on to be populated by the survivors and then, the Slave Lords appeared.
