Taygetus Pyramid Mountain
Overview
In the Odyssey we read in Book VI:"As the huntress Artemis goes forth upon the Mountains of Taygetus or Erymanthus to hunt wild boars or deer, and the wood-nymphs, daughters of Aegis-bearing Jove, take their sport along with her."
Origins
Initially, Hephaestus - seeking to be simply freed from his binding to the Atlantis Island Continent, he summoned the Talentos Mountain seeking to use it's Pyramidic Teleportation power to move itself back away from the cataclysmic environment, and him along with it. But, no luck. The Shadow Pyramid Formed, but the Mountain did not move, it had heeded his initial call, but is a Portal Mountain of Artemis - and would not move again without her blessing. In it's conflict, more was pulled through rather than sent back - elements of the Morea Peninsula were dragged through upon and beneath the shadow of the mountain. Hephaestus, through out this, was still stuck, beneath his hand at this time the Mountain had expanded into a whole Mountain Range - called the Pentadaktylos (Πενταδάκτυλος; Atlantean/Greek for five-fingered), as it's base was expanded to form a model of his hand from below. In an effort to try and protect his hand from being further immobilized and fused to the Continent forever, BUT it failed. In horror he now sought to use Volcanic powers to free himself - to burn his hand from the Continent's cap.
In further desperation, after bringing the Volcanoes to his call - and causing a series of eruptions and finally cutting obsidian shards in the area. But by now he had dragged it all far further south and then west before finally getting cold enough to freeze the area and break free.
Taygtus is a huge mountain range, spreading like five fingers atop the Northern Escarpment and today is known for it's main pyramid shaped point. Like the Mountain of the Moon, Taygtus is a Portal Mount of Artemis.
